BA adds daytime Newark flight to Heathrow

A new daytime flight from New York Newark to Heathrow is being introduced by British Airways.

The third daily transatlantic service from Liberty international airport from June 6 will depart at 7.55am local time and arrive in London the same evening.

A Boeing 777 is being deployed in a tree class configuration, including 48 seats in Club World seats, 40 in World Traveller Plus, and 184 in World Traveller. Return fares start at $690 in World Traveller and $3,195 in Club World.

BA described the additional flight as “a convenient option for travellers wishing to spend an extra night in the New York area before departing on business or leisure, or for those travellers who wish to arrive in the evening in London to spend the night at home or their hotel”.

The flight will depart Heathrow at 7.10pm, also allowing travellers to spend the day in London before flying to Newark.

The airline is also resuming its daylight service from New York JFK next month.

With the new frequency, BA and joint business partner American Airlines will offer 15 daily departures from the New York area this summer, including 11 flights from JFK to Heathrow and one from JFK to Gatwick which resumes from May 28.

All flights to JFK and Newark from Heathrow with BA and American will depart from Heathrow Terminal 5 from April.

All BA flights at JFK will depart from American’s base at Terminal 8 from December.

BA networks and alliances director Neil Chernoff said: “We are pleased to be launching our third daily flight from Newark, to further strengthen our New York–London schedule.

“The convenient morning departure is popular with customers who might prefer having an extra night in New York or arriving in London in the evening to start their following day more refreshed.

“Including American Airlines, we offer the largest and most convenient schedules from the New York area to London and are the only airline or alliance that offers service to and from both major New York and London airports.

“As we continue to co-locate our New York and London operations with American Airlines, we will provide a more seamless journey for our customers allowing them to access our combined 15 daily departures.”
