British Airways has confirmed its ‘book with confidence’ policy introduced during the pandemic is being removed.
The change covers new bookings made from today (Wednesday) while existing bookings made on or before June 7 and for travel by the end of September will not be affected.
The flexible booking arrangement allowed changes in flight dates and destinations without charge but it was seen by the airline to be a temporary measure during the pandemic.
BA is now ramping up its schedule and moving away from the ‘book with confidence’ policy, with passengers advised to ensure they have comprehensive travel insurance.
Requirements could be reviewed if new rules are imposed by a country that prevents or restricts travel due to Covid-19 to ensure support and flexibility to passengers.
A BA spokesperson said: “We offer a wide range of fares to give greater choice to our customers, and the vast majority of our tickets already provide flexibility.
“If a customer’s flight is cancelled, we’ll always offer them a range of options including a full refund.”
