BA to offer staff bonuses of up to 10%

British Airways is to offer staff a one-off bonus of up to 10%  of their salaries.

BA plans to offer a payment, which does not increase their annual salary nor pensionable income, of 5% of their annual pay next month and another 5% by the end of the year.

But the final tranches in September and December will be subject to BA’s financial recovery from the pandemic.

The offer covers cabin crew, airport check-in staff, baggage handlers, engineers, call centre workers and admin staff.

BA pilots are getting a 5% increase in their salaries.

The mainly operational staff were informed earlier this week they were going to be recognised for the contribution they have made financially throughout the pandemic.

The offer is made in “good faith” and seeks to balance the aspirations of employees, the continued challenging environment BA faces and the long-term future of the airline.

The pay initiative is part of BA chief executive Sean Doyle’s vision to rebuild the airline as a “better BA”.

A BA spokesperson said: “As we rebuild our airline, we’re committed to putting our people at the heart of our business and this proposal is a gesture of thanks for colleagues’ hard work during the pandemic.”
