Barbados is to further ease restrictions on international arrivals from next Wednesday (June 1), with unvaccinated travellers permitted to enter with a negative test taken within three days of arrival.
Both PCR and antigen tests will be permitted.
Unvaccinated arrivals will be required to take an additional test on arrival unless they can show evidence that they have recovered from Covid-19 in the 90 days prior to travelling.
Those required to take the test on arrival will be permitted to leave the airport with a negative result and will not need to quarantine.
The easing of curbs for unvaccinated travellers follows an initial relaxation for fully-vaccinated arrivals this week.
The new rules were introduced from Wednesday (May 25) and removed the requirement for a negative test to be presented for entry.
The changes come as 70% of the eligible population in Barbados are fully vaccinated.
Speaking about the move for vaccinated travellers, prime minister Mia Amor Mottley said: “We had a 90% decline in the number of visitors in the last two years. [Now] we are significantly on our way back up.”
