Escorted tours specialist Leger Holidays has launched a brochure dedicated to river cruises and rail holidays – with train and plane options instead of coach travel for the first time.
Customers can join their holiday by coach from hundreds of points across England and Wales or opt to travel by Eurostar and Europe’s network of high-speed trains.
Some tours include flights from London, or other regional airports at a supplement.
Each of the 32 tours in the brochure has a travel options reference box, with icons depicting the outbound and inbound transport choices available – rail, air or coach – and icons indicating the type of experience, including rail excursion, coach excursion, guided walking tour, rail connection, and river cruise.

Leger Holidays adds four tours to Grand Explorer collection
Chris Pummer, Leger Shearings Group’s chief product officer, said: “For 40 years Leger Holidays has been acclaimed for its escorted coach holiday tours, and the introduction of rail and air travel options and the launch of our new Rail Holidays & Cruise brochure has been a major product development project for the company.
“Despite the huge advances in coach comfort, represented in our Silver Service and industry-leading Luxuria coaches, there is a demand for our holidays from those who are prepared to pay more and arrive at the destination faster.”
Ashley Dellow, the group’s head of retail sales, added: “Agents know Leger Holidays has a huge selection of tours with something to suit everyone, and now they can also offer a choice of transportation – we’re not just coach travel.
“Agents shouldn’t worry, however, that we are moving away from coach transportation synonymous with our brand. Air and rail have been added as options to give the customer more choice.”
There are 22 rail holidays, which feature travel by rail from the UK, itineraries including rail experiences, or a combination of both.
Excursions include the Red Train of the Pyrenees, Mendola Mountain Funicular, Mount Pilatus Cog Wheel Railway and Mont Blanc Express. Customers can also travel through the Swiss Alps on the Glacier Express.
Five new festive rail holidays feature travel by rail or air, taking in destinations including Girona, Bucharest and Bern, and there are five new rail holidays offering travel by air.
Leger Holidays has also introduced flexible travel options to its collection of river cruises, including travel by rail and air on selected holidays.
Six cruises are featured, offering the Rhine, Danube and Seine – plus a new five-day UK cruise on the Thames on African Queen.
Four new festive Rhine cruises feature seasonal extras such as live entertainment and a gala dinner.
