EasyJet expects to carry more than two million passengers over the festive period.
The busiest day of the season will be Friday (December 22), with 1,650 flights carrying over a 250,000 passengers across the budget airline’s network.
A record of 542 flights are also due to take off across Europe on Christmas Day.
The airline will carry more than 720,000 passengers over Christmas and new year from the UK.
Tenerife is the most popular Christmas sun destination, while Paris is proving to be the city of choice and Geneva is among the top gateway for the start of the ski season.
Belfast is the most popular domestic destination for people travelling across the country.
EasyJet is also running its biggest schedule from the UK to Lapland, with services up to six times a week from Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh.
UK country manager Ali Gayward said: “This holiday period is such an important time for travelling, and flying somewhere festive, to catch some winter sun or to see friends and family can make it really special.
“With over two million people choosing to fly with us this holiday season for our unrivalled choice of European destinations and great value service, we can’t wait to take them away to celebrate the festivities, wherever and however they are spending them.
“And with 65 new routes already set to take off next year, we’re looking forward to welcoming more customers on board in 2024.”
