EasyJet to add eighth aircraft to Belfast base

EasyJet will add an eighth aircraft to its Belfast base this summer to support the launch of two routes to the Mediterranean.

An additional Airbus A320 aircraft will join the airline’s fleet as easyJet prepares to operate flights to Antalya in Turkey and Rhodes in Greece this summer.

Additionally, the airline has today (February 22) celebrated flying 70 million passengers to and from Belfast airport since it began operating the route in 1998.

To mark the occasion, the airline surprised a family flying from Belfast to Lyon with free return flights, and gave out cakes in the airport this morning.

UK country manager Ali Gayward said: “We are so proud to be in Belfast marking a key milestone for us as today we celebrate flying 70 million passengers from Belfast International airport.

“Our first flight from Belfast to London Luton airport took off the first time 24 years ago and since then we’ve been committed to Belfast and to providing great value fares and convenient connections for our customers in Northern Ireland whether they’re travelling for business or leisure.”
