Emirates continues UK restart with Gatwick return

Emirates has restarted its Gatwick services, with flights from and to Dubai resuming on Friday.

The resumption at Gatwick follows the return of Emirates flights at Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle airports in recent months.

The airline’s network now features 120 destinations, which it says is close to 90% of its pre-pandemic coverage as it reported bookings from the UK to destinations including the Maldives, Mauritius and Dubai had returned to 2019 levels.

A total of 84 flights a week now operate from the UK, with a second daily flight from Gatwick scheduled to start from January 27, 2022.

Emirates has also reopened its lounges at Birmingham and Manchester, with Glasgow and Gatwick’s lounges due to follow in January.

Richard Jewsbury, divisional vice-president, said: “We have continued to see demand for international travel, particularly from the southeast, and are pleased to resume operations from Gatwick.

“Emirates is fully committed to the UK and we have operated flights from the airport for over 30 years, providing vital connectivity to Dubai and beyond for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and family.

“The route has also carried billions of pounds worth of cargo into and out of the region – supporting UK businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
