Emirates to recruit 5,000 more cabin crew members

Emirates is looking to recruit 5,000 new cabin crew members in a bid to boost its ranks by 25%.

The airline’s recruitment drive is mainly targeted at people who have recently stepped into the world of work or looking to begin soon.

Open days and assessment centres will be held in more than 460 cities across six continents in 2024 as Emirates seeks to grow its cabin crew numbers from the existing 21,500.

It comes as the airline prepares to take delivery of new aircraft, with 65 A350s and a mix of 205 777-9s and 777-8s having been ordered.

The additions to the fleet will expand the airline’s reach and provide flexibility to add new routes.

All cabin crew recruits undergo eight weeks of training in Dubai, developing communication skills, initiative and leadership qualities.

They also hone their ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and develop the focus required to stay calm under pressure.

Last year, a total of 8,000 cabin crew members were hired as the airline ramped up its services post-pandemic.

More than 140 nationalities are represented by the team, with 130 languages spoken.

Robyn Clark from the UK joined Emirates as cabin crew in February last year.

She said: “Working for Emirates is a job like no other. From the day I got the call to boarding every flight, I feel so proud of what I’ve accomplished. Putting on the iconic Emirates uniform every morning is a feeling I can’t explain – this really is a dream come true.”

Emirates’ requirements for cabin crew applicants are: fluency in written and spoken English (additional languages are an advantage); you are a natural team player with a personality that shines; you are at least 160cm tall and able to reach 212cm high; you are able to meet the United Arab Emirates’ employment visa requirements.

The airline also requires at least one year of hospitality or customer service experience, a minimum of high school education, and no visible tattoos while in Emirates cabin crew uniform.
