Ex-British Airways operations chief joins SAS

Former British Airways chief operating officer Jason Mahoney is to take up a similar role at SAS.

He moves to the Scandinavian carrier on May 1 having most recently been chief technical officer at BA.

Mahoney was also engineering and maintenance director at Tui.

He replaces Simon Pauck Hansen who left SAS in January.

SAS highlighted Mahoney’s extensive experience from the global aviation industry.

Chief executive Anko van der Werff said: “I am very pleased to welcome Jason Mahoney to SAS.

“Jason is a well-recognised and experienced professional within the airline industry. He will be a valuable addition to SAS’ top management team.”

Mahoney added “I’m both proud and excited to join SAS. It is an airline with a long legacy and a strong brand and I see great potential ahead given its leading position in Scandinavia and the comprehensive transformation process SAS is currently undertaking.”
