The number of flights from UK airports over February school half term is set to soar by 44% over last year when Covid Omicron variant curbs were just being lifted.
A total of 15,455 flights are scheduled to take off from UK airports, equating to more than 2.7 million seats, next week.
However, departures during half-term remain 19% down compared to the same period in pre-pandemic 2019 when there were 19,136 departing flights.
New data from aviation analytics firm Cirium suggests continued recovery of the industry.
EasyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the holiday period, with 3,126 departures from the UK, followed by British Airways, Ryanair and Loganair.
The most popular international destinations are Dublin, Amsterdam, Geneva, Tenerife and Paris.
Heathrow will see the largest number of departures, with 4,092, followed by Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester.
The forecast comes despite a warning of delays to returning travellers due to Border Force industrial action planned by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union on February 17, 18, 19 and until 7am on February 20.
