Fiji regains air access lost during pandemic

Airline access to Fiji is being enhanced with the return of flights to Hong Kong and Tokyo for the first time since the pandemic.

Both services to the Pacific islands nation connect with flights from the UK.

The Fiji Airways Hong Kong flights depart on Saturdays and Mondays from April 1, connecting directly with the UK via Cathay Pacific and British Airways.

Fiji Airways will also offer two flights a week from Tokyo Narita airport to Nadi on Tuesdays and Fridays from April 4, providing connections with the UK via BA and Japan Airlines.

The returning routes complement three flights a week from Singapore and a Vancouver link which started in November.

Fiji Airways also connects via North America with codeshare partners BA and American Airlines, via Australia with Qantas and via New Zealand with Air New Zealand.

Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill said: “We are excited to see the return of these two flight connections for the UK market which, alongside the recent addition of the new Vancouver route and the existing connections via Singapore, the US and more, will make it easier than ever for UK visitors to enjoy the warm ‘Bula’ welcome and unique slice of paradise that we offer here in Fiji.

“January saw the highest number of visitor numbers from the UK to Fiji since before the pandemic and February saw the lifting of all Covid restrictions for arrivals to Fiji.

“We have also completely revamped our brand messaging and branding, the functionality of our website has been improved and for our partners in the travel industry we have a comprehensive image and asset database as well as a fantastic online training programme, the Fiji Matai Specialist.”
