Dozens of flights were cancelled as heavy rain storm deluged Germany’s largest airport in Frankfurt.
Around 70 flights were reported to have been affected on Wednesday with ground handling brought to a standstill for more than two hours.
More than 23 inbound flights were reportedly diverted due to the flooding.
Large amounts of water collected on the apron, leaving passengers unable to get off aircraft that had landed.
A video circulated on social media showed aircraft parked in standing water, while lightning flashed in the background.
At least 18 flights due to depart this morning were cancelled along with more than 20 Lufthansa arrivals, according to the airport’s website.
