Italian airports face 24-hour strike next week

Passengers face the prospect of disruption due to an aviation workers’ strike in Italy confirmed for Monday (January 8).

Baggage handlers at Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa airports are set to stage a 24-hour strike.

The action could cause delays for travellers at check-in and baggage collection.

Security staff at various Italian airports are also due to strike on the same day, potentially causing delays at Rome Fiumicino, Venice Marco Polo, Amerigo Vespucci in Florence and Treviso.

The industrial action is being called by unions demanding improved ay and working conditions.
