Loganair reacts to snow and ice warnings

Loganair is offering free flight changes amid a Met Office warning of snow and ice across large parts of the UK this week.

The Scottish regional carrier is abolishing flight amendment fees for travellers during the bad weather alerts but plans to operate all scheduled services.

The airline said: “Given the yellow warning for snow forecast on Thursday, 9th March until Friday, 10th March 2023, across the UK, and the potential for travel disruption, we are offering customers the opportunity to adjust travel plans without charge.

“You can choose to re-book on an alternative flight up to 7 days from your original travel date. There will be no change fee or difference in fare payable.

“If a seat is available on an alternative flight, you can transfer your booking to that flight without charge on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Loganair added: “We plan to fly all our scheduled services. We have standby aircraft and crews in place to help recover any disrupted services as soon as possible once weather conditions permit.

“Please note that unless your flight is cancelled, no refund will be offered for any operating service.”

The Met Office said many locations across Scotland could see between 2-4 inches of snow at the end of the week.

The heaviest snowfalls are expected on Friday with the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and central and southern Scotland covered by warnings.

The yellow alert for snow and ice extends from the north of Scotland, along the north east to much of the south of England today (Tuesday), including London, Birmingham and Cardiff with a warning of difficult travel conditions.

The warning runs until Friday covering different parts of the country and extending into Northern Ireland on Thursday and Friday.
