Loganair restores Glasgow-Donegal airlink

An air link between Glasgow and Donegal is being restored by Loganair with a new summer timetable.

Twice-weekly flights will run on Saturdays and Sundays between July 1 and September 24 to provide the only direct air link between the UK and the Irish destination.

The move marks the rekindling of a long-standing relationship between the Scottish regional carrier and Donegal airport, with the airline flying on the route as far back as the early 1990s.

The route will be operated by the airline’s new ATR-42 aircraft, the first time it has flown the type on a route to Donegal, with fares starting at £74.99 one way.

Chief commercial officer Luke Lovegrove said: “We are delighted to be able to restore this important connectivity between the UK and Ireland, helping families stay connected and facilitating leisure breaks too.”

Tourism Ireland brand partnership manager Cormac O’Suilleabhain added: “We recognise the vital importance of direct air connectivity and the key role that this air link to Donegal provides for Scottish holidaymakers.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors from Glasgow and all over Scotland to the island of Ireland and working with Loganair to promote the route and further expand their network to the island.”
