Loganair to resume international flights next year

Loganair has included new domestic routes and the first international flights since the start of the pandemic in its 2022 programme.

One of the carrier’s new routes will be between Teesside and Dublin, starting from May 27, and there will now be up to nine flights each week between Aberdeen and the Irish capital.

Another new route will be a one-stop service linking Newquay in Cornwall with Inverness every Saturday. There will also be additional services in the summer from Manchester and Edinburgh to Newquay.

A service from Glasgow to Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands has been introduced on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays in addition to services to Norwegian cities Stavanger and Bergen from Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Loganair will once again offer a fourth flight between Glasgow and Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

Capacity for Isle of Man services has been increased. A 72-seater ATR72 aircraft – rather than a 48-seater plane – will now fly to the Isle of Man from Manchester and Liverpool.

The carrier will up flights between Derry to Stansted from 15 to 17 each week and the service between Edinburgh and Cardiff will increase to six times a week.

Customers can now book flights in the programme. Around 58,000 seats are available each week across 73 domestic and international routes next year from March 27.

Chief commercial officer Kay Ryan said: “We’ve already taken great steps to rebuild our network after the pandemic, and we’re looking forward to consolidating this progress over the year ahead.

“We’re therefore increasing frequency on several routes and will be bringing back international flights for the first time in several months.

“We’ll only add flights and routes where we are wholly confident that customer demand will support such moves.”

The airline also announced that it would no longer be offering flights to Donegal and Jersey from the end of this summer season, adding that poor customer demand for the Jersey route had prompted the decision.

Loganair’s codeshare partner Blue Islands will continue to serve Jersey.
