Loganair unveils ‘improved’ schedule for summer 2024

Loganair has started selling tickets for summer 2024, promising an improved schedule and increased frequency across “several key markets”.

The new schedule, featuring 900,000 seats, includes a link to Fair Isle for the first time since March 2019.

The new ATR-72 aircraft will operate on busier routes, while improved timings have been arranged for the Newcastle to Southampton, Edinburgh to Sumburgh and Edinburgh to Exeter services.

Loganair chief commercial officer Luke Lovegrove said: “We’re improving our schedule and increasing frequency across several key markets, in order to better serve our customers next summer.”

Summer flights start on March 31, with further updates to the schedule due in the coming months.

Flights will restart between Kirkwall and Fair Isle on Monday, May 20, continuing until Monday, September 2. The service will run twice a week.

The connection was halted four years ago when the island’s internationally-renowned bird observatory was destroyed in a fire.

But with the centre and its tourist accommodation set to reopen next year, Loganair will bring back the flights from Orkney.

Lovegrove said: “The opportunity to reinstate our Fair Isle service is particularly pleasing and demonstrates our support to this island community.”

Other features of the summer schedule include a weekend return service between Newcastle and Southampton.

Lovegrove said: “Advance booking is the optimal way to secure the best value deals on our services so with over 900,000 seats now available next summer, it is the perfect time to plan your trips.”
