Malaysia Airlines to resume full London schedule

Malaysia Airlines is to ramp up capacity between London and Kuala Lumpur after Malaysia announced the reopening of borders to international travellers from April 1 after two years.

More than 70,000 seats will be available as the carrier brings back 11 flights a week from March 27, rising to a double daily frequency from June 30.

This comes in time for Easter and the European summer and continues the resurgence of international travel following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions across the UK and Europe.

It also coincides with other south-east Asian destinations, such as Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, relaxing entry requirements for fully vaccinated international travellers.

The flagship route from Heathrow is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines UK and Europe regional director Daniel Bainbridge said: “I am delighted that we are resuming our full schedule, twice daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur in the summer following the significant increase to 11 weekly flights from 27 March for the first time since early 2020.

“The further increase in capacity of over 70,000 seats is a top priority for Malaysia Airlines on our flagship route and we remain the only non-stop carrier between London and Kuala Lumpur.

“We now eagerly await the opening of Malaysian borders on 1 April for travellers who we know have been wanting to visit and look forward to welcoming them back onboard with our signature Malaysian hospitality.”
