American Airlines global sales chief Kyle Mabry has taken on a new role after more than 25 years working for the carrier.
He has been named as operational and commercial vice president for the Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific regions.
Mabry takes up his new role as engineers employed by the carrier at Heathrow voted for strike action in a pay row. Walkout dates have yet to be confirmed by the Unite union.
The airline operates more than 400 weekly flights to 22 destinations across EMEA and APAC, working in the regions with partners including British Airways, Qatar Airways and IndiGo.
American is poised to also resume service to Auckland and Sydney, helping further rebuild its presence across the Pacific.
Mabry led the global sales division as vice president for almost two years, following seven years as managing director for American’s western division.
In his new role, he will head commercial strategy in the two regions, “working toward the airline’s shared goals of reliability and profitability,” according to American.
Mabry said: “After over two decades with American, I’m looking forward to the taking on the challenge of the EMEA and APAC regions, leading our dedicated teams across the globe as we run a reliable operation and to return to profitability.”
“I’ve witnessed the incredible work that our teams at EMEA and APAC do, ensuring American’s continued success in the region, and I look forward to work alongside them as we continue providing unparalleled service for customers.”
The airline issues its third quarter financial results on October 20.
