Queensland tourist board woos travellers from UK

Tourism officials in Queensland have launched a marketing campaign to encourage visitors from the UK, following Australia’s relaxation of Covid-19 curbs on international travellers.

Called ‘Good to Go, the campaign from Tourism and Events Queensland highlights the state’s new tours, experiences and accommodation providers that are now open to fully vaccinated international travellers.

Leanne Coddington, Tourism and Events Queensland’s chief executive, said: “We look forward to welcoming back visitors from the UK to experience Queensland.

“From overnight stays on the Great Barrier Reef, to hinterland escapes in the Scenic Rim, and a raft of new five-star hotels to indulge in, there’s something to suit every taste.

“Quarantine-free travel for international arrivals into Queensland is an important step in rebuilding our inbound travel markets from key source markets like the UK.

“At TEQ we look forward to working with our trade partners in the UK to inspire travellers to book a Queensland holiday.”

Queensland’s premier Annastacia Palaszczuk commented: “Queensland is ‘Good to Go’ for the holiday of a lifetime abroad.”

“From tropical islands surrounded by turquoise waters and the vivid colour of the Great Barrier Reef to Australia’s favourite adrenaline destinations, our Good to Go campaign features the world-class holiday experiences the UK has been missing.

“With Queensland’s winter approaching, now’s the time to plan your Queensland holiday with more sunshine to enjoy than a British summer. Queensland is open for business with something for everyone.”

The Good to Go campaign starts on Monday (February 21) on Queensland’s online channels and will expand to trade, aviation and media partners in the coming weeks.
