Rocky Mountaineer to hold agent roadshows in September

A trip on the Rocky Mountaineer tourist train is one of the prizes on offer at a series of UK agent training events starting next week.

The luxury sightseeing rail operator has partnered with tourism boards, airlines and Holland America Line to hold its Western Canada & Southwest USA roadshows.

They will take place in Liverpool on September 5, Newcastle on September 6, Exeter on September 12 and Cardiff on September 13.

They will bring together Air Canada, United Airlines, Destination Canada, Travel Alberta, Destination British Columbia, Visit Utah, the Colorado Tourism Office and Holland America Line for an evening of education, food and drink, plus prizes, to help agents to build their product knowledge.

Rocky Mountaineer’s three routes in Western Canada visit the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

First Passage to the West is a two-day journey that connects Vancouver with Lake Louise and Banff; the two-day Journey through the Clouds travels between Vancouver and Jasper passing by Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies; and the three-day Rainforest to Gold Rush connects Vancouver and Jasper via Whistler and the historic gold rush area of Quesnel.

Clients frequently combine any of these train journeys with an Alaska cruise and itineraries featuring British Columbia and Alberta.

Rocky Mountaineer’s Rockies to the Red Rocks route (pictured) in the US southwest is a two-day journey that connects Moab, Utah with Denver, Colorado.

Typically clients build this journey into a wider touring itinerary through this region.

Steven Harris, Rocky Mountaineer’s UK & Europe sales director, said: “Our travel agent partners continue to be vital to Rocky Mountaineer’s success. At the September roadshows we are taking a holistic approach to learning – agents will be able to build their knowledge of our product but also learn more about how it fits into extended touring itineraries, and how they can best sell the regions in which we operate.”

Spot prizes will be won at each event, and all participating agents will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets for a 2024 Rockies to the Red Rocks journey.

To attend one of Rocky Mountaineer’s Western Canada & Southwest USA Roadshows, agents should email emeasalessupport@rockymountaineer.com. Agents can register to attend up to the day before each event.
