Ryanair and Wizz Air carryings rise in March

Ryanair saw passenger carryings rise by one million year-on-year in March to hit 13.6 million.

The 8% annual increase came despite Europe’s largest carrier cancelling 950 flights due to the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The airline operated more than 77,000 flights lsat month with the load factor pegged at 93%. 

This gave Ryanair a rolling annual total up 9% to 183.7 million passengers, with the load factor up by one percentage point to 94%.

Budget rival Wizz Air reported a 12% rise in passenger numbers to almost 4.8 million in March as it restored flights to Tel Aviv from six bases, with further routes to be restored throughout April, May and June.

The eastern and central European airline same its load factor fall by 1.3 percentage points year-on-year in March to 90.8%.

Wizz Air’s annual rolling passenger total was up by 21.4% to 62 million.
