Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, will offer flights to Singapore via Bangkok from Gatwick next month.
The airline said it will be the only budget carrier to operate non-stop flights between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and Gatwick when it makes its UK debut on December 16.
Its parent Singapore Airlines already offers non-stop flights between Singapore and Heathrow.
The three-times a week service will operate in December, then resume in March 2022, initially twice a week then rising to three times a week.
Flights will be with Boeing 787 Dreamliners offering economy and ScootPlus cabins.
Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s chief executive, said: “The progressive relaxation of international borders presents new opportunities for airlines and travellers alike.
“With the ability to now travel quarantine-free between the UK and Thailand, Scoot is excited to introduce the only low-cost option between Bangkok and London.”
With the addition of London, Scoot will serve more than 30 destinations in December 2021 as it builds back to its pre-Covid network of 68 cities. Scoot currently operates daily flights between Singapore and Bangkok.
