The King’s coronation will see 10% more flights landing in the UK next weekend over the same period last year with 10,807 scheduled.
The spike in inbound flights will see more than 1.9 million passenger arrivals in addition to 3.3 million seats on 18,881 flights scheduled to arrive in the UK this week.
The additional bank holiday on May 8 will see outbound flights hit 86% of pre-pandemic 2019 levels, according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium.
London airports alone are set to see 5,836 arrivals over the coronation weekend – equating to more than 1.1 million seats.
Heathrow will see the largest number of arrivals (2,561), followed by Gatwick (1,473), Stansted (992), Manchester (971) and Luton (592).
The number of inbound flights this week is 11% higher than the same period last year.
Friday (May 5), the day before the coronation, is projected to be the busiest day for UK arrivals this week, with 2,877 flights arriving into UK airports,
London airports alone are scheduled to see 10,246 arrivals this week – equating to more than two million seats.
Heathrow will be the busiest for arrivals at 4,483, followed by Gatwick (2,535), Stansted (1,722), Manchester (1,663) and Edinburgh (1,036).
