Sustainability focus revealed for 2024 Thai Travel Mart Plus

Sustainable tourism will be showcased at Thailand’s annual B2B travel industry event.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2024 is to be held on June 5-7 at JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa at Khao Lak in the coastal Phang-nga province, with online registration opening on February 9.

More than 950 participants are expected, including 420 buyers from 50 countries, representing key source markets such as Europe, ASEAN, East Asia, North America and Australia plus emerging markets including eastern Europe, Middle East, South America, and South Africa.

About 430 sellers from Thailand will showcase tourism products and services, including “a multitude of meaningful travel experiences” and sustainable tourism opportunities.

Pre-tours of Phang-nga – an hour’s drive from Phuket international airport – highlighting wellness, soft adventure and sustainability are planned as well as post-tours to explore various destinations in five regions of Thailand.

Since its launch in 2001, TTM+ has mainly been held in Bangkok. The show was relocated to Chiang Mai in 2016–17, Pattaya in 2018–19, Phuket in 2022, and the capital again last year.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) international marketing deputy governor Siripakorn Cheawsamoot (pictured) said: “TAT will exert every effort to ensure that the TTM+ 2024 yields substantial results for all participants as well as the host destination and local tourism industry partners.

“This year, TTM+ will be focussed on sustainability, offering discounts to Thai sellers who operate their businesses sustainably.”

TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said: “Buyers and sellers will come together and build on existing business partnerships and forge new ones.

“Equally important, the event will shine a spotlight on the transformation of Thai tourism towards more meaningful travel with a focus on high-value and sustainable tourism.

“TTM+ 2024 is expected to create around 15,000 business appointments, generating over 2 billion baht.”
