Travellers have been urged to check updates from airlines and operators ahead of a 24-hour strike across Italy tomorrow (Friday).
The Foreign Office issued the alert in updated travel advice for the country.
The notice said: “A 24-hour national strike of airport, airline and ground handling staff is expected on 24 November.
“Travellers are advised to seek updates with their booking provider.”
The walkouts follow a strike last Friday by Italian transport workers and other public sector staff, excluding those in the aviation sector, in protests over government budget plans for 2024.
Friday’s action is expected to impact handling services, ground staff and other airport functions, with likely flight delays, cancellations and disruption.
While flights between 7am-10am and 6pm-9pm are guaranteed by law in Italy, there is expected to be a knock-on impact as authorities tackle the likely backlog of flights.
