Inspire Group says sales of its travel gift card have been boosted since the introduction of its own trust account last year.
Card purchases are claimed to have increased by more than 400% over the last nine months, now the cards provide full financial protection.
Inspire introduced its own independent trust account in April 2021.
Gift cards have received negative media coverage following a number of high-profile failures in the last few years.
When Thomas Cook collapsed in September 2019 its gift card funds were retained in the business and customers were left out of pocket.
TravelCard by Inspire can be redeemed for holidays, cruises, flights, UK breaks, weekend trips and ancillaries, such as airport lounges, transfers, parking and car hire.
Group chief executive Peter Pantelides said: “We introduced the trust account to provide our customers and cardholders with total reassurance that their funds are fully protected. By having a trust account, our gift card funds are completely ring-fenced and governed separately.
“In these highly volatile times, we are giving customers the financial security they need.”
He added: “Current research shows that travel is at the top of everyone’s wish list and as a reward, recognition and motivation mechanism, it continues to be a very powerful and flexible offering, appealing to just about everybody.”
