Tui introduces virtual work experience scheme

A virtual work experience programme designed to provide students with an insight into the travel and tourism industry has been introduced by Tui.

The home-based course is made up of six modules, including interactive activities, webinars, and projects designed to help participants understand various aspects of the travel industry, from customer service to marketing and operations.

Open to those aged 14 and over, the course contains more than six hours of content.

Participants receive a certificate of completion once all the modules are finalised.

The scheme has been developed in collaboration with careers platform Springpod.

The course is in addition to a range of apprenticeships offered by Tui, spanning finance, digital, management, travel and engineering to working in the company’s high street shops or call centres.

They range from Level 3 intermediate apprenticeships, equivalent to A levels and used for those wishing to work as a travel agent in the company’s shops, to degree (Level 6) and master’s degree (Level 7).

Tui Northern Region HR director Julie Tindale described the new initiative as “a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in travel and tourism to get a head start”.

She added: “The online modules provide flexibility for students to learn in their own time and pace, and hopefully inspire them to pursue a career with Tui or the wider industry.

“We want to encourage emerging talent and highlight that the travel and tourism industry is an exciting one to be a part of, and there’s so many different types of career opportunities available.”
