Wizz Air carries 5m passengers in August

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air carried almost five million passengers in August – up by 38.5% year-on-year.

The airline reported a load factor of 90.5% for the month.

Furthermore, its CO2 emissions in grams per passenger/km were 11.7% lower than the same month last year, as the airline’s load factors improved.

The announcement about August’s figures highlighted how the carrier is also relaunching several routes from its bases across Europe, including daily Luton-Athens flights which will recommence on October 30.

Other routes will restart this autumn from bases in Hungary, Italy, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, Albania and Moldova.

August also saw the news that Wizz will introduce 20 new routes from Europe to Saudi Arabia next year.

The budget carrier plans to offer more than one million seats next year from Bucharest, Budapest, Catania, Larnaca, Milan, Naples, Rome, Sofia, Tirana, Venice and Vienna to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
