Wizz Air restarts flights to 25 amber list destinations

Wizz Air is restarting flights to 25 additional amber list destinations on the back of the government’s relaxation of rules for fully vaccinated travellers.

The budget carrier aims to serve 44 points from England on ther amber list when the regulations change on July 19 including the Greek islands of Corfu, Rhodes and Santorini plus the Canary islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Tenerife.

The airline is already flying to the green list destinations of Reykjavik, Gibraltar, Malta, Palma and Madeira.

The majority of flights are from Luton, with other from a new base at Cardiff airport plus Doncaster Sheffield and a single route from Gatwick to Malta.

Wizz Air UK managing director Owain Jones said: “The decision to scrap quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers returning to England from amber list countries is welcome news for our industry and for passengers, as we reach the crucially important peak holiday season.

“We encourage the government to continue to adopt this more risk-based approach, allowing people to safely travel internationally on well-deserved holidays and to reunite with loved ones, and to provide an essential economic boost to both the UK and countries abroad.”
