WTTC confirms first round of Saudi summit speakers

Bosses of top travel companies have been confirmed as the first round of speakers for next month’s World Travel & Tourism Council global summit in Saudi Arabia.

Business leaders set to take to the stage include Carnival Corporation vice-chair and former chief executive Arnold Donald,  Marriott International chief executive Anthony Capuano, Dubai International Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths, Hilton president and chief executive Christopher Nassetta and Virtuoso president and chief executive Matthew Upchurch.

Tourism chiefs from countries such as Australia, Austria, Bahamas,  Bahrain, Barbados, Japan and Turkey are also due to address the conference.

The event, under the theme ‘Travel for a better Future’ will focus on the value of the sector to the global economy, to the planet and communities around the world.

The 22nd gathering is to be staged at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh on November 28 to December 1.

WTTC president and chief executive Julia Simpson said: “We are delighted to have such influential speakers already confirmed for our global summit in Riyadh.

“The government of Saudi Arabia has been instrumental in the recovery of the global travel and tourism sector following two years of crisis, and we are delighted to be taking our global summit to the Kingdom this year.

“Set to become a major tourist destination, our latest research shows that Saudi Arabia’s travel and tourism sector will surpass pre-pandemic levels next year and will see the fastest growth across the Middle East over the next decade.”
