Team members from Newmarket Holidays’ head office in Wallington, south London, volunteered at a community group as part of the operator’s company charity focus.
Zee Akhtar, Vicky Cooper, Rasme Ozdemir, Stuart Cowell and Joe Hargreaves spent a day last week packing and delivering food parcels for the Dons Local Action Group.
Newmarket Holidays gives all employees two days of paid leave every year so they can support charities that are close to their heart.
Nikki Bail, head of people and culture at Newmarket, said: “We are constantly striving to improve our wellbeing efforts within the company, and volunteer days are one of several initiatives we have introduced, alongside a team of Greenmakers to raise eco-consciousness in the office, launching Wellness Wednesdays and adding mental health first aiders.
“It is great to see our team taking the opportunity to volunteer their time for such an incredible cause.”
Dons Local Action Group was set up in response to the Covid crisis and now offers permanent support to those fighting poverty across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston.
They provide food parcels, household goods, furniture and appliances, plus laptops for children who do not have access to online learning.
