Adventurer named godmother of Seabourn’s first expedition vessel

Seabourn has named mountaineer and polar explorer Alison Levine as the godmother of Seabourn Venture.

Levine served as team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition in 2002 and climbed the seven highest peaks on each continent in 2010.

She will be at the traditional naming ceremony of the ship when it launches in London in July.

The 264-passenger Seabourn Venture is the first of two purpose-built expedition vessels to be launched by the line.

Seabourn president Josh Leibowitz said: “With her extraordinary history of travel and adventure, familiarity with the most striking of destinations, and her deep roots in the expedition world, Alison is a perfect choice to send Seabourn Venture off to explore the most-remote corners of the globe.

“We are excited for Alison to take the mantle as godmother of our first expedition vessel, and we’re certain she will embrace her role with the same passion she brings to everything she does.”

Levine said she was “truly honoured” to be asked to become godmother of the expedition ship.

“I’m thrilled to be representing a company that embodies what the true adventure and expedition spirit is all about,” she added.

Levine previously shared her adventure experiences with Seabourn guests on Seabourn Sojourn in December 2019.

Seabourn Venture and sister expedition ship, Seabourn Pursuit, will feature 132 veranda suites. Pursuit is scheduled to launch in February next year.
