APT deploys Capella to accommodate Ukrainian refugees

APT has deployed one of its Travelmarvel ships in the Netherlands to help Ukrainian refugees displaced by the ongoing Russian invasion.

The 91-cabin vessel – called Capella – will be docked in the village of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht until January 30, 2023, providing accommodation for up to 182 Ukrainians affected by the war.

APT said: “Capella’s spacious staterooms and multiple communal and dining areas will make life onboard as comfortable as possible for its new guests.”

In addition, APT has raised nearly £12,000 to donate to the World Food Programme and Global Development Group’s Ukraine appeal to support victims of the war.

Both non-profit organisations have set up an emergency relief appeal to provide food assistance for people fleeing the conflict inside Ukraine and in neighbouring countries.

The food assistance operation is expected to help provide food and clean water to the two million refugees who have sought safety in neighbouring countries, including Poland, Romania and Moldova.

APT is also working with the German non-profit Friedensdorf International – or Peace Village International – which provides medical attention to children living in war zones.
