Celebrity Cruises has become the latest cruise line to cancel sailings after it pulled its entire Asia programme this winter due to the “ongoing uncertainty” around international travel into the region.
Celebrity Solstice (pictured) was set to arrive in Japan in late September ahead of the season, but the line has decided to move the ship to the Mexican Riviera instead.
It will operate sailings previously scheduled to be operated by Celebrity Millennium, which will now offer Caribbean sailings from September.
Passengers impacted by the move to cancel the 2022-23 Asia season have a month to rebook to another Asia sailing in 2023-24.
If they do not transfer their booking by May 12, they will receive a full refund.
A Celebrity spokesperson said: “We thank our guests for their patience and understanding as the world continues to reopen and we continue to work through unique circumstances.”
Celebrity joins a host of lines – including P&O Cruises, Riviera Travel, Ambassador Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line – to cancel departures in recent weeks.
The lines have blamed staff shortages, travel restrictions or supply chain issues for changing deployment plans.
