Cunard has made the final preparations to operations to Queen Elizabeth ahead of the line’s resumption this weekend after a 17-month pause.
The ship (pictured) had been due to restart in July but a Covid-19 outbreak among “a small number” of crew forced the line to postpone its ex-Southampton sailings for another month.
Initially, Queen Elizabeth will offer a series of UK voyages before resuming international voyages in October with an ex-Southampton cruise to Amsterdam.
The ship will then sail a 14-night voyage to the Canary Islands and Madeira this November.
In a statement issued today, Cunard president Simon Palethorpe said: “I think I speak for the entire team at Cunard when I say how delighted we are to be returning to what we do best as we get ready to welcome our guests back on board.
“We know how much our guests have been looking forward to our first voyage and we hope that they fully immerse themselves in the Cunard on board experience, as they enjoy some of the most stunning coastlines Britain has to offer.”
