Cunard has announced the team designing incoming 3,000-passenger ship Queen Anne.
Designers David Collins Studio, Richmond International and Sybille de Margerie and creative director Adam D. Tihany are working together to create venues, suites and the décor on the vessel due to launch in 2024.
The team’s portfolios include luxury hotels, spas, yachts, private grand residencies, restaurants, and bars.
For the first time David Collins Studio and Sybille de Margerie are taking their land-based experience into ship design.
The team has used Cunard archives at the University of Liverpool for inspiration as it drew up plans.
Queen Anne’s exterior will feature the line’s “famous red funnel” and debut an updated livery, Cunard said.
An “elegant new font inspired by the grand ocean liners of the past” will bear the name Queen Anne on the forward bow.
Lee Powell, Cunard brand vice president, said: “We’ve worked with leading interior designers and fresh creative talent.
“We’ve discussed and tested our ideas with guests from around the world; and we’ve delved deep into the Cunard archives to make sure we can truly celebrate what makes Cunard so unique.”
Queen Anne’s debut programme will go on sale in May.
Inger Klein Thorhauge has been named as captain for the ship’s maiden season. This year Thorhauge, Cunard’s first female captain, celebrates 25 years of service with the company.
Thorhauge, who is from the Faroe Islands, will sail Queen Anne from Italy, where the vessel is currently being built, to Southampton ahead of its inaugural sailing in early 2024.
“I am very proud to be Cunard’s first female captain, but to be named as the first captain of Queen Anne is the greatest honour,” she said. “It means the absolute world to me to be a part of the next chapter of Cunard.”
