Details of four zones revealed for Carnival Celebration

Carnival Cruise Line has announced details about four of the six zones on Carnival Celebration, which is due to enter service in November.

The Atrium in Celebration Central will span Decks 6, 7 and 8, designed as the “heart of the ship’s celebratory spirit” with the feeling of a festive party.

The ceiling will look like the burst of a confetti canon with 1,400 colour-changing lighting fixtures.

Floor-to-ceiling windows on the side of the ship will change into 16 individually controlled LED screens to reflect the entertainment, such as live music and acrobatic performances.

Pieces from former Carnival ships will be repurposed to blend with the ship’s décor, such as ocean-themed glass murals from Carnival Victory.

Ben Clement, senior vice-president of new builds, refurbishment and product innovation, said: “From a design perspective, we are incorporating elements from our former ships, paying homage to the history of Carnival, and also showcasing Carnival Celebration as a modern, innovative and forward-looking vessel.

“While similar to [sister ship] Mardi Gras with a plethora of options for dining, entertainment and relaxation, Celebration will have her own personality, one that celebrates all things Carnival, intertwining where we have been with where we are going.”

The Ultimate Playground zone will feature a roller coaster, called Bolt, The Ultimate Sea Coaster, set to be the second roller coaster at sea, after the first one appeared on Mardi Gras.

The zone will also be home to the WaterWorks aqua park and SportSquare featuring a mini-golf course, full-court basketball and an exhilarating ropes course.

The Summer Landing zone will feature Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, pools and whirlpools, The Watering Hole poolside bar, and the Heroes Tribute Lounge.

The poolside zone, Lido, will offer the RedFrog Tiki Bar, Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant, Guy’s Burger Joint, Seafood Shack, and BlueIguana Cantina.

Carnival Celebration will be the second Carnival ship to be powered by a liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion system and will have its home port in Miami.

Additional details and zones on Carnival Celebration will be revealed in the months leading up to the ship’s inaugural sailing from Miami on November 21, as part of the cruise line’s 50th anninversary festivities.
