Hurtigruten expands 2023-24 Galapagos programme

Hurtigruten Expeditions is to expand its Galapagos programme from 2023 with three new year-round itineraries.

The line’s inaugural six-night cruise in the 19-island archipelago departs on January 7, 2022, with four sailings, ranging from four to eight nights, available in 2023 and 2024 .

In addition to the six-night eastern Galapagos itinerary, there will be a four-night northern Galapagos cruise, a four-night western Galapagos sailing, and an eight-night voyage covering northern and western Galapagos.

Prices for the 13-day From Machu Picchu to the Galapagos Islands itinerary, departing Lima on January 1, 2023, lead in from £9,167. Itinerary departures for 2023 end on March 10.

The revamped 50-cabin Santa Cruz II will operate the sailings in the Galapagos for Hurtigruten. Public areas, cabins and suites have been upgraded on the vessel ahead of the line’s debut season in the archipelago.

The line has also expanded its land-based pre and post-cruise programme, adding a hotel called Mashpi Lodge, located north-west of Quito, Ecuador.

Passengers can add a three-night stay at the hotel.

Asta Lassesen, Hurtigruten Expeditions chief executive, said: “The iconic Galápagos can be considered a planet within planet Earth due to its distinct wildlife and pristine landscape. This is one of the most distinct and pristine destinations there is.

“We are exceptionally proud to offer even more chances to sustainably connect with this adventure travel treasure.”

Hurtigruten Expeditions is part of the Hurtigruten Group, which also operates Norwegian Coastal Express.
