Former Cruise Britain chair Kate O’Hara has been named cruise manager for the Cornish port of Fowey, in addition to policy manager for ferry and cruise at the UK Chamber of Shipping.
O’Hara boasts significant experience of port operations, having held senior commercial roles at Dover, Port of London and Port of Tyne, and will hold the positions concurrently.
In addition to her port roles, she has also served as chair of Cruise Britain on two occasions, most recently between January 2022 and April 2023.
Captain Paul Thomas, Fowey harbour master, said: “We are thrilled to have Kate join our team, her reputation within the cruise sector is exceptional and she will make a first-class ambassador for the harbour.”
O’Hara added: “I am delighted to assist the team in Fowey in reaching new customers and growing the business, enabling more passengers to enjoy the amazing experiences this area of Cornwall has to offer.”
Fowey currently welcomes about 15 cruise ship visits each year and offers access to attractions including the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
