MSC Cruises has unveiled its largest-ever summer shore excursion programme, featuring more than 1,390 trips.
The line said the “extensive” programme includes “something for every kind of traveller” and passengers can receive a discount of up to 20% when they book shore excursions prior to departure.
There are more than 540 experiences available to passengers sailing on the line’s western and eastern Mediterranean voyages.
Passengers in Valletta, Malta, can explore Gozo Island by boat and car and in Messina, Italy, passengers can visit the site around Mount Etna.
The programme includes low-impact environmental excursions – called Protectours. Passengers can book a Protectour near Olympia, Greece, where they can learn about sustainable agriculture, natural olive oils and soaps on an organic farm near Olympia.
Across the British Isles, Baltic states, Icelandic and Greenlandic cruises there are more than 630 shore excursions available to MSC passengers and in the Caribbean there are more than 200.
More than 20 excursions are available on the line’s private island Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (pictured) in the Bahamas, including shipwreck snorkelling; renting a beach cabana and taking in 360-degree views of the island during a lighthouse climb.
Marialuisa Iaccarino, MSC Cruises’ head of shore excursions, said: “Shore excursions give guests the freedom to make the most of every moment ashore during their holiday.
“Everyone is looking for something that interests them, and this is why it is so important that there’s an excellent variety to choose from, so there’s something perfect for everyone.”
MSC added that passengers could also independently explore destinations without a tour guide, subject to the regulations of local authorities.
