Norwegian Cruise Line has axed sailings on six more ships following the cancellation of two cruises earlier this week “due to Covid related circumstances”.
Norwegian Getaway’s cruise from Miami to the Caribbean – scheduled to depart on January 5 – was cancelled on the day it was due to sail, and Norwegian Pearl had to return to the Florida port just one day after departing on January 3.
Now the line has announced that “due to ongoing travel restrictions” it has “had to modify a few sailings and unfortunately have had to cancel the following voyages”:
All Norwegian Pearl cruises with embarkation dates through and including January 14, 2022
All Norwegian Sky cruises with embarkation dates through and including February 25,2022
All Pride of America cruises with embarkation dates through and including February 26, 2022
All Norwegian Jade cruises with embarkation dates through and including March 3, 2022
All Norwegian Star cruises with embarkation dates through and including March 19, 2022
All Norwegian Sun cruises with embarkation dates through and including April 19, 2022
All Norwegian Spirit cruises with embarkation dates through and including April 23, 2022
All guests booked on these sailings will receive an automatic full refund returned to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation as well as a bonus Future Cruise Certificate valid for a future cruise.
NCL said: “We understand the inconvenience and frustration this disruption may cause, and we appreciate the continued understanding of our loyal guests and travel agent partners.”
The cancellations come as other cruise lines are also affected by outbreaks of Covid, including Marella Cruises, which axed a Caribbean sailing on Marella Discovery after “small numbers of positive Covid cases” were reported on board.
Cruising has been temporarily suspended along the coast of Brazil and the US Centers for Disease Control recommends people avoid cruise travel, regardless of their vaccination status, reflecting the emergence and spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
