NCLH agrees deal to homeport ships in Panama

Norwegian Cruise Line is to homeport a ship in Panama City for the first time after its parent company signed an agreement with the country.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) signed a three-year deal with the Panama Tourism Authority, allowing the company to seasonally homeport at the Colon Cruise Terminal and Fuerte Amador Cruise Terminal.

In 2022 and 2023, NCLH will offer 12 voyages from Panama City, starting with Norwegian Jewel from March 20, 2022. The 2,376-passenger vessel will begin with a nine-day itinerary through the Panama Canal, calling into Costa Rica, Aruba, Curaçao, and Colombia.

Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Joy will also offer ex-Panama voyages from 2023.

Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line’s president and chief executive, said: “This new agreement enables nearly 24,000 guests to experience the beauty of Panama each year.”
