Albatros Expeditions’ ship, Ocean Victory, has become the first ship to be christened in South Georgia.
The Danish boutique expedition cruise operator christened the 93-cabin vessel on its maiden voyage earlier this month.
Elise Grøndahl, Albatros Expeditions’ head of operations and product, christened the ship in an environmentally friendly way by replacing the traditional bottle of champagne with a block of ice.
Hans Lagerweij, president of Albatros Expeditions, said: “We choose for this event to happen in South Georgia, because of our great love for this unique place.”
Albatros Expeditions has also launched its 2023-2024 Antarctica season.
