Princess Cruises launches holographic London display

A holographic display designed to promote incoming Princess Cruises vessel Sun Princess vessel is on display in London.

The display, created in partnership with Disturbed Media Group, uses 8k, ultra-HD 3D HyperGram technology and can be found at King’s Cross today (December 19).

Viewers will see the exterior and interior of Sun Princess while hearing The Love Boat theme tune from the TV series filmed on a Princess Cruises ship during the 1970s and 1980s.

Sun Princess, slated to launch in February 2024, will offer Mediterranean sailing in its inaugural season.

The ship will be the largest vessel in the line’s fleet when it launches and it will “embrace Italian heritage” with an onboard Piazza and The Dome, which is inspired by Greek island Santorini.

“The visual experience aims to captivate passers-by with a realistic display combined with an immersive public experience,” Princess said.

Suzanne Korff, Princess Cruises UK and Europe marketing director, said: “Princess Cruises is at the forefront of innovation, with our Medallion technology providing effortless, personalised holidays to our guests.

“Sun Princess is our next-generation ship, it made sense for Princess to be the first cruise line in the UK to partner with Disturbed Media Group on this exciting and innovative marketing activation.”

Bailey Young, co-founder of Disturbed Media Group, said: “HyperGram has a strong reputation for connecting people to immersive holographic experiences that gather attention and that people remember.

“Technology is advancing faster than ever before and gaining the attention of the general public is becoming harder for brands.”

The display debuted earlier this month in the atrium at Westfield London in White City on December 3.
