Royal Caribbean Group has agreed a deal with the government of Antigua and Barbuda to bring thousands of job opportunities to the country’s population this summer.
Minister of tourism, Charles ‘Max’ Fernandez, said the initiative would see “a huge cadre” of tourism professionals from Antigua and Barbuda employed by the cruise company.
Royal will host a jobs fair in the city of St John’s in June which will be open to the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda.
Positions will include storekeepers, cruise staff, youth staff, sports staff, laundry and restaurant attendants, bar waiters, wait staff, bakers, and butchers, plus marine sector jobs, such as electricians.
Russell Benford, vice president of government relations, Americas, said: “The relationship between Royal Caribbean and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda goes back well over 30 years.
“We have supported each other through the most challenging times and signing this agreement demonstrates the strength of our partnership and will result in boosting the tourism economy.”
