Saga appoints non-executive director to cruise board

The chief executive of ferry firm Red Funnel is to join Saga’s cruise board as a non-executive director.

Fran Collins (pictured) has more than 20 years’ experience in the shipping and travel industry and her appointment will give the over-50s specialist access to her “invaluable counsel”, Saga Travel said.

She will replace Tom Allan, who will retire in the new year after 10 years on Saga’s cruise board, and will serve in the role in addition to her position at Red Funnel.

Prior to joining the Isle of Wight-based ferry company in 2018, Collins spent 16 years in operational and management roles at Condor Ferries, which offers services from the south coast to the Channel Islands and France.

Saga Travel chief executive Nick Stace said: “This comes at an incredibly exciting time for Saga as our strategy continues to drive simplicity, efficiency and growth in our business, and exceptional experiences to our guests.

“This appointment means we’re able to access Fran’s invaluable counsel as we continue in our strategy.”

Collins added: “I am proud to join Saga at such an exciting time in its journey. I look forward to working collaboratively with the cruise board as it continues to transform its business and provide world-class cruising which exceeds every guest’s expectation, every time they travel.”
