Silversea Cruises has declined to comment on new reports that it is set to acquire Crystal Cruises’ expedition vessel Crystal Endeavor.
US website Cruise Industry News reported on Tuesday that Endeavor would soon operate under the Silversea brand after the luxury line had acquired the ship, citing “multiple industry sources”.
It added Silversea had filed to trademark the name Silver Endeavor on June 8.
Jason Liberty, the president and chief executive of Royal Caribbean Group, the parent of Silversea Cruises, expressed an interest in buying the 200-passenger vessel earlier this year.
However, Silversea chief commercial officer Barbara Muckermann told Travel Weekly: “As a matter of corporate policy, Royal Caribbean Group does not comment on market rumours or speculation.
“If Royal Caribbean Group is involved in a transaction, it will be actively announced in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.”
Crystal Endeavor, which launched in July 2021, completed a maiden season in Iceland and several Antarctica voyages before Crystal ceased operations in early 2022.
According to marine tracking website CruiseMapper, Crystal Endeavor is currently docked in Gibraltar.
