Theatre in the round to feature on new Princess Cruises ship

A 1,000-capacity in the round entertainments venue is among additional features to be unveiled for new Princess Cruises’ ship Sun Princess.

The Princess Arena is described as an evolution and “the most technologically advanced” theatre design for the company.

With moveable seats, three configurations will maximise sight lines, according to the first details to be made public.

Horizons Dining Room, covering three decks, will offer different experiences and range in levels of formality.

The line’s largest casino with more than 200 slot machines and video poker games is also to be included.

New designs are also planned for exiting Princess ship elements including Alfredo’s Pizzeria, Crown Grill, Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria and the Princess Live! venue.

The new Sphere-class ship, with a capacity for 4,300 passengers, will be the largest in the fleet when it enters service in the Mediterranean in early 2024.

Sun Princess, being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, will be the first for the line and one of 11 new vessels in the Carnival Corporation fleet powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).

Princess Cruises president John Padgett said: “With the construction of any new ship, we have the incredible opportunity to design standout spaces with our guests’ preferences in mind.

“With the new platform and size of Sun Princess, we’re uniquely able to refresh venues we know our guests love and expand upon, redesign and elevate them to the next level.

“We know our sun-inspired designs will exceed expectations and elevate the entire Princess experience.”
